Allergic contact dermatitis is a condition that occurs as a result of the reaction of the skin as a result of contact with certain substances. The first symptoms usually appear immediately or 1-3 days after skin contact.

It can also spread to other parts of the body.

Allergic contact dermatitis is usually seen in people with a genetic predisposition.

It is more common in adults than children. Symptoms such as redness, rash, itching, blistering, tenderness and swelling occur at the contact site of the skin with the allergen.

Allergic contact dermatitis can be caused by some plants in cosmetic products.

Nickel, chromium and mercury are the most common causes.

Some antibiotic creams, detergents, cleaning materials can cause this ailment.

Hair dye, perfumes, eye shadows and lip dyes are the main factors in cosmetic products.

The diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis is made by dermatological examination. Allergy test is applied to find the allergen causing it.

In the treatment, first the irritant is found and removed from the skin. It is washed with plenty of water. Cortisone creams are used.

Cortisone is the most effective method in contact dermatitis.
