The most important factor that increases the risk of developing prostate cancer is age.

The cause of prostate cancer is unknown. However, the older you get, the greater your risk of developing prostate cancer. If the number of men in your close family who have prostate cancer is high, you have a higher risk of developing the disease. Prostate cancer is not contagious; does not pass from person to person. The most important factor that increases the risk of developing prostate cancer is age. Therefore, advanced age is the most important risk factor for Prostate Cancer. This type of cancer, which is rare under the age of 45, increases the risk as you get older.

Family history is also effective in the risk of developing prostate cancer. Those with a brother who has prostate cancer have an increased risk of developing the same disease. It is known that the race factor is also important in Prostate Cancer. For example, Prostate Cancer is more common in African Americans than in whites. Those with high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia cells in their previous biopsies also had an increased risk of prostate cancer. These cells appear abnormal under the microscope.

Eating foods rich in animal fat and containing meat has also been shown to increase the risk of prostate cancer in some studies.
